Gene Rayburn (1917-1999) was an iconic American TV personality best known as the host of TV’s classic MATCH GAME for over two decades. Rayburn began his career in radio and later appeared in the Broadway musical “Bye Bye Birdie.” A frequent game show panelist in the 1960s and 1970s on “What's My Line?” and “To Tell the Truth,” Rayburn developed the interviewing skills he needed when taking over hosting duties on MATCH GAME in 1962.
